Ayb High School is a remarkable transformation of an old, unfinished Soviet-era building that once served as a driving school and study center. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the abandoned structure was repurposed by locals for housing livestock, with parts of it in disrepair and filled with garbage.
When we were tasked with designing the new Ayb High School, we faced the challenge of working with a limited budget and integrating new elements while preserving the existing structure. Our vision was to break traditional norms of school design, creating a space that fosters innovation and learning. We retained the original building and added modern extensions, resulting in a dynamic, unconventional educational environment that blends the old with the new, all while respecting the project’s financial constraints.
